Senior Development Technologist

Job Description

Senior Development Technologist

Cambridgeshire

£42,000 + benefits

Let's be honest. Most NPD job ads read exactly the same. Often doing the same thing just in at a different site...

So here's the real version.

This is a food manufacturer that actually launches stuff. Not endless concept decks that die in a drawer. Products go from idea to shelf, and you'd be the one taking them there.

You'll lead your own projects end to end. That means spotting the trend, working up the recipe, running the tasting panels, getting it through factory trials, sorting the packaging, nailing the spec and the costings, and then standing in front of the customer and selling them on it. Then you'll look back after launch and work out what you'd do better next time.

You won't be doing it alone. You'll work closely with production, technical, procurement and the commercial team. Some of those conversations will be easy. Some will involve explaining to an ops manager why your lovely new product needs a process change. Part of the job is making both happen.

You'll also step up for the NPD Manager when they're away, so there's genuine room to grow here if that's where you want to go next.

What you'll need to bring:

You've developed and launched food products before. Not assisted, launched.

You know the manufacturing side, not just the kitchen side.

You can present to a customer without your voice going up an octave.

You can juggle several projects at once without dropping any.

A degree or similar in Food Science or something close to it.

A full UK driving licence, as you'll split your time between sites and customer meetings.

If you're a Development Technologist who's ready for more ownership, or a Senior who wants their work to actually reach the shelf, this is worth a conversation.

Get in touch and we'll tell you the bits we can't put in an advert.
