Production Shift Manager
Job Description
Production Shift Manager
Cambridge area | Circa £47,000
Monday - Friday, 6am - 2pm
Your team should see more of you than your inbox does.
Around 90% of your time here will be spent on the shop floor. Being there for the team, helping people develop and making sure the shift performs.
You'll get to know who needs a bit of encouragement, who's ready for more responsibility and what's getting in the way of a good day's production. Then you'll do something about it.
Recognition matters here. Spotting someone doing a good job, saying thank you and making sure their contribution gets noticed are all part of being a manager.
So are clear expectations, honest feedback and dealing with poor behaviour properly. The culture is in a good place, and they want someone who'll help protect it while raising performance.
The senior team are a big part of the appeal.
Having met the GM and Group Operations Director, they're down to earth, approachable and enjoy a laugh. They care about how people are treated and believe the factory and its people should be at the centre of decisions.
You'll be joining a smaller food manufacturing site with the backing of a large parent company. Investment plans are signed off for the next five years, with automation projects, new products and customers bringing plenty to get involved in.
Your job will be to turn that opportunity into a shift that runs well: developing the team, improving line performance, tackling problems and following things through.
You'll need food manufacturing leadership experience and examples of improving results by working with your team. You'll be comfortable challenging someone fairly, supporting them when they need it and recognising their progress.
There's room to develop and take on more as the business grows.
The shift is 6am - 2pm, Monday - Friday, with occasional Saturday morning cover, expected around once or twice a year.
