Location: Kettering Northamptonshire
Salary: £53,000 per annum
Pattern: 3 weeks of days, 1 week of nights
Shift: 4 on / 4 off, 06:00-18:00 / 18:00-06:00
Contract: Permanent

The Opportunity

We're recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team of a well-established, high-volume manufacturing business in North Northamptonshire.

This is a permanent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working hands-on, solving problems and keeping automated production equipment running at its best.

The business is investing in its engineering capability and is looking to strengthen its team with engineers who can confidently fault-find across both mechanical and electrical systems.

The role also offers the opportunity to get involved in practical engineering projects, fabrication, welding and workshop-based work, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety and wants to develop their wider skill set.

The Shift Pattern

You'll work a 4 on / 4 off shift rotation:

3 weeks of days: 06:00-18:00
1 week of nights: 18:00-06:00

This means you'll have a consistent 4-on/4-off pattern, with nights forming only one week in every four.

About You

We're looking for a genuinely multi-skilled maintenance engineer with strong mechanical and electrical experience within a manufacturing, industrial or automated production environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 3, ONC, BTEC Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification

  • Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills

  • Proven industrial fault-finding experience

  • Experience maintaining automated production machinery

  • Experience working with conveyors, motors, pumps, sensors and associated equipment

  • Planned and preventative maintenance experience

  • The ability to diagnose faults quickly and make effective decisions under pressure

  • A proactive approach to maintenance and equipment reliability

  • Strong communication skills

  • A positive, can-do approach to problem solving

Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging or other high-volume manufacturing environments would be advantageous.

18th Edition, PLC/automation experience, fabrication or welding skills would also be beneficial.

We're particularly interested in engineers with a strong electrical bias, alongside balanced mechanical/electrical maintenance engineers.
