Overview
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Sales Advisor (Automotive & Parts) on behalf of our client.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a mechanical or vehicle maintenance background who has a good understanding of automotive parts and is looking to move into a sales and customer-focused role.
Our client is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working on cars, vans, commercial vehicles or similar, with a good knowledge of parts and vehicle applications. This could be a great next step for a mechanic or engineer who wants to move away from the tools while still using their technical knowledge.
The role would also suit ex-military personnel and service leavers, particularly those from mechanical or technical trades, bringing their discipline, reliability and structured approach into a civilian environment.
You'll join a supportive team with full training provided and a clear internal progression pathway, with opportunities to develop into more senior sales and leadership positions over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high standard of customer service to trade and account customers.
- Handle customer enquiries and identify the correct parts for their requirements.
- Use electronic parts catalogues and vehicle applications to identify products.
- Prepare quotations, process sales orders and deal with pricing enquiries.
- Manage back orders, returns, warranty claims and customer queries.
- Support trade counter and face-to-face customer interactions.
- Liaise with warehouse, transport, procurement and depot teams.
- Coordinate deliveries and provide updates to customers where required.
- Maintain accurate customer and sales records.
- Follow up on enquiries and identify opportunities to convert sales.
- Maintain good knowledge of products, suppliers and vehicle applications.
- Support general depot and administrative duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in mechanical or vehicle maintenance.
- Good knowledge of automotive parts and vehicle applications.
- An interest in developing a career in sales and customer service.
- Experience working on cars, vans, HGVs or other vehicles is desirable.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
- Reliable, professional and comfortable working as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills and willingness to learn new systems.
What's on Offer?

- Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
- Full training and ongoing development.
- Clear internal progression pathway.
- Strong mentoring and support from experienced colleagues.
- Long-term career development opportunities.

- Opportunity to develop your knowledge across sales, parts and depot operations.
