Job Description

My client is an established provider of services such as contract cleaning, window cleaning, carpet cleaning and much more across the Northern Home counties, London, the South Midlands and other areas of the country. They provide cleaning services for offices, factories, schools, hospitals, and many other private and public sector sites. It is an excellent time to join the business as they continue to expand, they are financially solid and the owner is not looking to sell or retire. I am currently partnering them to find an experienced Area Manager to oversee a portfolio of contracts in the Bedfordshire. The client base covers school, offices factories etc. With approximately twenty sites but this will grow. There are circa 70 operatives and 4 supervisors to manage. The main purpose of this role is to provide a quality service in accordance with the terms of the Account.

The main duties of this role are

  • To ensure that work is undertaken is in line with the Companies policies / procedures and current legislation.
  • To ensure at all times the Company's image is maintained and its interests safeguarded.
  • To ensure contract retention targets are met on a consistent basis.
  • To ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to at all times and ensure that quarterly H&S audits are carried out with a monthly cleaning inspection.
  • To ensure the recruitment and selection of employees and termination is carried out within the framework of the current employment legislation.
  • To recruit, train and develop employees and be responsible for their welfare and problems.
  • To manage a motivates, flexible and contented workforce.
  • To control overheads and operational costs for the Account and ensure profitability.
  • Bring about cost saving initiative where applicable.
  • To develop opportunities for other services to be supplied by the company
  • To plan, manage and organise the operational activities of the Account and oversee work scheduling.
  • Ensuring proper standards of service / cleaning are established and maintained, any deficiency is remedied as soon as possible.
  • To liaise with the client to ensure the smooth running of the Account.
  • Always ensuring the Account is adequately always staffed and services are properly supervised.
  • To complete Performance reviews for their employees and ensure they are complying with the policies / procedures of the company and the client.
  • Always ensuring the adequate equipment and materials are available at the site.
  • To administer the Account including relations, training, personnel, and accident reporting, together with the company's grievance and disciplinary procedure.
  • To maintain and control Account costs through the control of materials and wages to ensure expenditure is within agreed budgetary guidelines.
  • To attend training courses and meetings as requested to keep abreast of new techniques and skills.
  • To carry out any other reasonable request from the job holders superior.
  • Ensure adequate planning for the successful start of new / existing contracts including TUPE.

Relevant Experience and Personnel Attributes

Experience of overseeing multi sites and have had some time managing this type of portfolio

Possess a full UK driving license

Salary £36k, Commission on sales like additional cleans, consumables. washrooms etc. Nest pension, 28 days annual leave which increase after 3 years to 30 days. A company car is provided,
